After a restful night at Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge, you’ll trek through lush forests for an intimate, once-in-a-lifetime experience with these majestic creatures. This exciting adventure brings you face-to-face with gorilla families in their natural habitat, offering an unforgettable connection with the wild.
Next, travel to Lake Bunyonyi, a tranquil paradise dotted with 29 picturesque islands. Enjoy a peaceful canoe boat ride as you take in the stunning scenery and the serene environment. Your tour concludes with a return to Kigali, where you’ll visit the Genocide Museum to learn about Rwanda’s history before heading to the airport. From gorilla encounters to breathtaking lakeside views, this journey offers the perfect mix of nature, culture, and adventure.
You will be picked up from Kigali Airport by your guide (we recommend arriving on a flight before midday) and begin your scenic journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to the world’s largest population of mountain gorillas and an incredible diversity of wildlife, including 23 of the 24 Albertine Rift endemic bird species such as the Blue-throated Broadbill and the Bar-tailed Trogon, among many other beautiful forest birds.
This evening, you are encouraged to retire early to ensure you are well-rested for the thrilling gorilla trekking adventure awaiting you the next day.

Driving time: About 7-8 hours
After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing and set off for an unforgettable gorilla trekking journey. Led by experienced rangers, the trek which takes between 2 and 7 hours will be challenging but deeply rewarding as you get to spend a full hour in close proximity with a gorilla family.
Thereafter, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi; it’s has 29 islands of various shapes and sizes scattered across the water that make it most magical. Have a canoe boat ride on this beautiful lake.

Today you will have a breakfast and then cross the border back to Kigali, have a visit to the Genocide Museum and then later to Kigali International airport and connect with your onward evening flight back home.
